Sponsored Research Office

The Sponsored Research Office (SRO) supports faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure and ensure proper stewardship of external funding.

The office is responsible for the effective and timely handling of research proposals, specifically for preparing, interpreting, submission, and accepting agreements on behalf of Â鶹ÊÓƵ for projects and programs funded by federal and state agencies, foundations, and other public and private sources.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ is a federally recognized Emerging Research Institution (ERI).

Proposals

You're interested in applying for a sponsored project, now what? SRO is here to support you in preparing proposals for external funding opportunities. From evaluating eligibility for a solicitation to budget development, SRO can assist along the way. Once you have identified a funding opportunity you are interested in, you must submit an Intent to Submit Form (ISF) to SRO no later than ten (10) business days before the proposal is due to the sponsor. All Â鶹ÊÓƵ faculty and staff can find the pre-award resources you will need on the myÂ鶹ÊÓƵ portal on the  page, including the link to the ISF.

Equipment

The Sponsored Research Office carries out the College’s obligation to track capital equipment purchased with federal funds (). Per the College’s Equipment and Property Policy, equipment that costs $5,000 or greater (Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s capitalization threshold) and is funded by a federal or non-federal grant, contract, or cooperative agreement must be logged, tagged, and monitored.

Principal Investigators/Project Directors (PIs/PDs) must notify SRO once their equipment or property has been delivered to take an initial inventory and accordingly tag the equipment or property. Additionally, the College is required to take a physical inventory of all equipment and property purchased with federal and non-federal funds. SRO will reach out to PIs/PDs to coordinate lab visits to verify the condition and location of all sponsored project assets..

Please note that PIs/PDs must not dispose of, transfer, or sell any equipment or property purchased with sponsored funds, without prior written request to and approval from SRO, and if required by the terms and conditions of the award, the sponsoring entity.
