The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program funds fellowships for graduating seniors and recent alumni to work for a year as research assistants at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Purpose:
The funds fellowships for 12-14 graduating seniors and recent alumni to work for a year as research assistants at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Eligibility:
In order to apply, a candidate must:
- be a graduating senior or an alum who has graduated in the previous academic year and has not yet started a graduate program
- be eligible to work in the U.S. for the full 12 months of the program
Certain assignments require particular kinds of research experience or language skills. Assignments for the upcoming year are announced by mid-October.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ application process:
All interested applicants must apply through their undergraduate institution. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ may nominate 2 candidates per year.
Interested applicants should email the following documents (saved as PDFs) to fellowships@oxy.edu by 11:59pm on November 11, 2025 (please note that the 2025-26 application has changed from past years!):
1. A cover page listing your name, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ graduation month/year, and the program you are applying for (see list of programs on page six of )
2. A writing sample of 3-5 pages, ideally tailored to the program you are applying for, including a brief (no more than 1-page, not counted in the 3-5 pages) explanation of why you chose this sample. Your sample should include in-text citations. For more information, see the description of the writing sample on page two of .
2. A 2-page personal statement, double spaced. The personal statement should discuss why you are applying for this job, what you hope to learn from it, how you think your experience and working style would serve you well as a research assistant, and why you have chosen to apply for the program you are applying for.
3. A 1-2 page resume
4. An unofficial transcript
5. A list of two possible recommenders
