The John Branca Institute for Music welcomes world-renowned recording artist Jessy Lanza to Professor Ramona Gonzalez’s MUSC 195 History of Electronic Dance Music class.
Jessy Lanza is a Juno and Polaris Prize nominated musician, producer and DJ from Hamilton, Canada. She has released four studio albums on London's legendary Hyperdub label; Pull My Hair Back, Oh No, All the Time and Love Hallucination. If we’re in the midst of a dance music renaissance, Lanza is one of the form’s torchbearers. As she laces deeply sensual vocals over a dynamic tapestry of uptempo production styles, all frequencies are welcomed and cherished on the dance floor of this architect’s mind. In 2021 Jessy also contributed to the esteemed DJ Kicks mix series on !K7 Records. Her releases have been met with universal praise with features in The Guardian, New York Times, Pitchfork and more.
