Review our required and optional materials for transfer applicants.

Review the checklist below to make sure you have everything you need to apply through the Common App.

 

Required Materials

You will submit the following items through Common App:

Short answers

Writing sample from a college course (graded is preferred)

You can submit the following requests through Common App:

Letter of recommendation (one from a college instructor)

College transcripts from all institutions attended (or consult these on sending transcripts)

Plus, you will need to download this form and submit it to your college's registrar or dean of students to be filled out and sent directly to Occidental:

You will also need to request your high school or testing agency to send the following directly to Occidental:

Final high school transcript or GED certificate

 

Optional Materials

The following options can help provide additional context and dimension to your application, but are not mandatory:

Admission interview
You can request an admission interview through Occidental directly.

Standardized test scores 
SAT and ACT scores are completely optional and can be submitted through Common App.

Additional letter of recommendation
This can be requested through Common App.

Artistic supplement
You may submit an optional portfolio via Slideroom on Common App.

 

International applicants have additional admission requirements and should consult their checklists to make sure they have all the necessary materials. We also have an undocumented and DACA students webpage with guidance on how to fill out the application.

Transfer Application Deadlines

App Round | Application Closes
Spring |     November 1

Completed applications will be considered on a rolling basis. The spring application closes on November 1.

Fall |     March 1
Completed applications received by March 1 will be considered on a rolling basis after April 15. Applications received after March 1 will be considered on a rolling basis after May 1.

Financial Aid

If you鈥檙e applying for need-based financial aid, be sure to submit the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and all required documents by the appropriate deadline for your application round. Occidental meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all admitted domestic students.

Submitting additional materials and checking on your application

Once you submit your application through the Common App or Coalition on Scoir, you鈥檒l receive an email from Occidental within 24鈥48 hours with instructions to access your .

Through the portal, you can:

  • Check your checklist
  • Update your contact information
  • Upload additional documents
  • View your admission decision when it鈥檚 released

Every applicant is assigned an admission counselor based on region. Find your counselor and connect with them for support at any point in the process.

Re-applying to Occidental

Although we keep past applications for three years, when applying as a transfer student, you must submit a new Common Application (as well as a new application fee) to be considered for admission each term. Be sure to also submit updated college transcripts and new academic evaluations with each application. Students may apply to 麻豆视频 a maximum of three times (including both first-year and transfer applications).
